Press Release: Guam Ethics Commission Releases Annual Summary of Opinions and Staff Achieve Professional Certification in Ethics & Compliance
Hagåtña, GUAM — The Guam Ethics Commission has announced the release of its second edition of the summary of opinions publication at its regular meeting on Friday, April 26th. This report provides the community with an overview of the Commission's decisions, advisory opinions, and informal advisory opinions over the past year. It also includes data on the number of employees who have completed their required ethics training through the ethics in government program.
In addition to the report, the Commission also shared updates on its recent cases. Twenty-five additional cases were filed and heard, with seven being referred to the Office of the Attorney General for further action and 18 being dismissed. This demonstrates the Commission's commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting transparency in government.
But that's not all - the Commission also announced that three of its staff members have obtained professional certification as Leadership Professionals in Ethics & Compliance (LPEC). Executive Director Jesse Quenga and Ethics Investigation and Compliance Officers Reuben Bugarin and Pamela Mabazza have all achieved this prestigious certification, offered by the Ethics & Compliance Initiative. This certification is designed for Ethics & Compliance professionals seeking to enhance their leadership skills and maintain excellence in their E&C programs.
"Our staff earning the LPEC certification is more than a professional achievement; it shows our shared dedication to excellence and integrity in all aspects of our work.” said Commission Chairperson, Christopher Cruz. "This achievement highlights our strong commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards while advancing the Commission's mission."
The Guam Ethics Commission plays a crucial role in promoting ethical conduct and transparency in government. With the release of its annual summary of opinions and the achievement of professional certification by its staff, the Commission continues to demonstrate its commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a culture of integrity in the government of Guam.
The summary of opinions can be downloaded from the Commission’s website at www.guamethics.com.
